About Us

At Crecer Biblioteca, we believe in the power of literacy to shape a child's future. Our mission is to provide every child in Guanacaste, Costa Rica with access to books that will foster a love for reading and learning.

It all started when a child picked up a book in English at our center and was enthralled by the pictures. The realization that this child and his friends do not have access to books in their language was heartbreaking and sobering.

Because there are no public libraries within our area. We are committed to developing mobile libraries that take books to where children live.

We currently work with local schools and community centers to create access. With your help and donations we can open doors to the future through the power of learning.

How you can get involved.

Books for children in Spanish are expensive and difficult to acquire in Costa Rica.

We need donations that help us purchase books as well as get them to our mobile libraries in Guanacaste.

Reading Workshops

We sponsor weekly reading workshops at our center where children are encouraged to develop reading skills.

We need local volunteers who can commit to help us offer these programs to more children. Training will be provided.

We currently work with local schools and community centers to make books available to students. We need to upgrade our vehicle and trailer to reach more children with the power of literacy. We need to raise $25,000 for this project.
